Michelle grew up in the Midwest where she participated in high school sports and equestrian events. She qualified for the Illinois State High School Track and Field Championships four consecutive years and finished in the top 5 in several different events. She received her undergraduate degree with honors in Biology at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. While there she also ran track, qualifying for the NCAA Div. III National Track and Field Championships. After graduation, she was accepted into the Physical Therapy Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL where she graduated with honors in 1987. Her interest in athletics lead her to Eugene, OR, where she worked extensively with elite runners, gymnasts and equestrians.
She relocated to Boulder in 1991 and has continued to work with active people of all ages, levels and disciplines. She earned an advanced manual therapy certification in 2007 and specializes in joint and soft tissue mobilization for treating movement disorders of the spine and extremities. She is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner and is certified in trigger point dry needling. Other areas of clinical interest include pelvic floor dysfunction and various approaches for neuro-muscular reeducation and exercise. She received her Pilates training from the PhysicalMind Institute based in New York City and since 2006 has been fully certified in the Pilates method for mat and equipment.
Michelle is an avid backcountry, downhill and skate skier. She is a PSIA certified telemark ski instructor. She also enjoys rock climbing, cycling, hiking and trail running. When possible she combines her love of travel with her passion for outdoor sports including cycling in the Alps and Pyrenees in France, rock climbing, skiing and backpacking throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
